Cassette Castle
Cassette Castle
To all the memories sinking into oblivion
This installation was a collaboration with my friend Anil Aydınoğlu. One day, we came across a box of children's cassettes abandoned on the street. It made us reflect on how objects, once useful and cherished, can become obsolete over time.
Cassettes were once a staple of everyday life, but now they are rarely used. We wanted to preserve these sounds and memories in a way that people could still experience them. So, we built a "castle" out of the tapes—transforming them into both a structure and a sensory experience.
A tape recorder sat on the floor, inviting visitors to pick a cassette, listen, and then step inside the castle. For a moment, they could be surrounded by the echoes of the past, immersed in a space shaped by forgotten voices and melodies.
